Columbus United Soccer Club

Each year Columbus United Soccer club may award one of its coaches with the distinction of “Coach of the Year”.  The award can be given on an annual basis but does not need to be. It should only be awarded when a coach has exhibited qualities deserving of the award. The decision of COY will be made by the DOC in consultation with coaching staff.

In May 2014 the Columbus United Advisory Group voted unanimously to name the award the “Todd Fishel Memorial Coach of the Year” award. Todd Fishel was a long time and highly respected coach in both Caledonia and Columbus.  On May 11^th, 2014 he passed away at the age of 48 leaving behind his wife and three children—all of whom played soccer.  At the time of his passing Todd was the assistant coach for the United u13 boys.
